Seoul, Korea, December 8, 2025 — Global leading tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (hereafter Hankook Tire) successfully completed its “Water Pump Installation Project,” a local water infrastructure support initiative, in Naga cipta Village of Serang Baru, Bekasi Regency, Indonesia, on December 5, and held a donation ceremony to commemorate the achievement.

The project aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. Launched last year, the initiative aims to provide reliable access to clean and safe water for local communities in Bekasi, where Hankook’s Indonesia Plant is located.

The Bekasi region has been severely affected by extreme drought and water shortages during the dry season due to El Niño—one of the major abnormal climate phenomena— creating an urgent need for water infrastructure support. In particular, Naga cipta Village is home to more than 300 households, including employees of Hankook’s Indonesia Plant, and among them, approximately 50 households depend on rainwater collection for their daily water needs.

During the project period, Hankook Tire closely collaborated with the local community in Bekasi to install a modern water pump system and storage tank in the village. The newly established water infrastructure is expected to significantly improve the quality of life for residents by reducing household expenses previously spent on purchasing water and by enhancing local living conditions, which have long suffered from insufficient infrastructure.

As a result of the project carried out last August in Pasirranji Village near Cikarang Pusat, Hankook Tire has supplied a total of approximately 2.8 million liters of clean water to more than 230 households— serving over 1,100 residents—as of August this year.

Hankook Tire has been accelerating its commitment to shared growth with the Indonesian local community by carrying out various CSR initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In October this year, the company installed high-efficiency LED streetlights to enhance nighttime safety (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities), and in August, it conducted a coastal forest restoration volunteer activity by planting more than 5,000 mangrove trees along the shoreline (SDG 15: Life on Land), fulfilling its responsibilities as an active member of the global community.

In addition, Hankook Tire donates tires annually to local public and private organizations to support safe and efficient operations. The company also engages in beneficiary-focused, community-based initiatives such as providing infrastructure support for educational institutions, offering free health checkups for vulnerable groups, and delivering charitable contributions.

Hankook Tire plans to continue fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by maintaining close communication with local communities in regions where it operates global production bases, including Indonesia, the United States, Hungary, and China. At the same time, the company remains committed to creating sustainable value in partnership with local communities worldwide.
