Seoul, Korea, September 11, 2026 — A leading global tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) has renewed its FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation, the highest rating within the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Environmental Accreditation Programme.

The FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation is a certification program designed to assess environmental management and sustainability in motorsports and the mobility sector. It comprehensively evaluates a company’s overall environmental management system, including environmental performance, energy consumption reduction, logistics efficiency improvements, waste management optimization, and the implementation of carbon neutrality programs.

Hankook Tire first received the FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation in 2024 and has retained its accreditation following this year’s renewal assessment. The company received final approval following a rigorous evaluation by FIA Sustainability and will retain its accreditation through July 2028.

Hankook Tire first received the accreditation in 2024 while serving as the exclusive tire supplier and official partner of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship (Formula E), the world’s premier electric vehicle racing series.

In particular, Hankook Tire has conducted life cycle assessments (LCA) covering raw material procurement, manufacturing and transportation for Formula E tires, and has established a system to track and manage the carbon footprint across its production processes.

Through this renewed accreditation, Hankook Tire has reaffirmed that its environmental management systems for motorsport meet the FIA’s standards. Separately, the company plans to continuously review and strengthen the ESG management activities and environmental management capabilities of its unified global brand, ‘Hankook.’

Commenting on the renewal, Willem Groenewald, FIA Secretary General for Automobile Mobility, Sustainability and Tourism, said, “Congratulations to Hankook on renewing its FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation. Earning our highest environmental standard once is an achievement; renewing it shows a commitment that runs deep. As a Global Partner of the FIA, Hankook shares our belief that motor sport can drive innovation from the track to the road, and this renewal is a fitting reflection of the partnership we are building together.”

Meanwhile, Hankook Tire's Geumsan Plant became the first in the Korean tire industry to obtain ISCC PLUS certification in 2021 and has since expanded the certification to its plants in Hungary, Daejeon, and Jiaxing, China. The company has also entered into a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for renewable energy at its Hungary Plant and installed solar power systems for on-site consumption at its Geumsan Plant and Chongqing and Jiaxing plants in China.
