Seoul, Korea, May 22, 2026 — A leading global tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) announced that its Jiaxing Plant located in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, China, has obtained the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS, a global certification system for sustainable materials.
‘ISCC PLUS’ is a voluntary international certification system that verifies the sustainability of bio-based and recycled materials, as well as transparency throughout the supply chain. The certification applies stringent verification standards across the entire process, from raw material sourcing and manufacturing to final products.
This certification marks Hankook Tire’s fourth ISCC PLUS achievement, following certifications for its Geumsan Plant in 2021—the first in the tire industry—its Rácalmás Plant in Hungary in 2023, and its Daejeon Plant in 2025. By extending certification to its production base in China, Hankook Tire has further strengthened its sustainable manufacturing network across Asia and Europe.
The Jiaxing Plant has been strengthening its manufacturing capabilities through expanded use of sustainable materials and optimized production processes. In addition, the plant has established a stable production system for products incorporating sustainable materials by expanding the use of bio-based and recycled materials and operating a quality management system based on the mass balance approach.
Based on its circular economy strategy, ‘E.Circle,’ Hankook Tire continues to expand the use of sustainable materials. The performance tire ‘iON evo,’ supplied as an original equipment tire for the Porsche Taycan, incorporates approximately 45% sustainable materials based on the mass balance approach, while the ‘iON GT,’ launched in the European replacement market, has increased the share of sustainable materials to up to approximately 77%.
Hankook Tire is also increasing the adoption of sustainable materials in motorsports. The company applies sustainable materials to tires supplied for the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) and the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship (FE), reinforcing its sustainable technology leadership in global motorsports.
In addition, Hankook Tire is advancing the development and commercialization of low-carbon raw materials through open innovation with global partners. Based on these sustainability achievements, the company has been recognized for its global ESG competitiveness through inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices World (DJSI World) and the achievement of the highest rating from EcoVadis.
Meanwhile, Hankook Tire plans to further position the Jiaxing Plant into a key sustainable manufacturing hub in China while continuously advancing sustainable production systems across its global manufacturing facilities. Through these efforts, the company aims to strengthen its sustainable supply chain capabilities in line with global standards and further strengthen the ESG competitiveness of its global unified brand, ‘Hankook.’
