Flawless performance from René Rast in Zolder to take win number two of the 2019 DTM season (Kopie 11)
René Rast produced a commanding display to win the Sunday race at the first foreign round of this season´s DTM in Zolder, Belgium. The Audi driver looked totally in control for much of the race at the 4.003-kilometre circuit. After 39 laps of racing, Rast crossed the finish line first with a healthy lead of 9.845 seconds. This was the 32-year-old´s second win of the season and the Audi man has ended up on the top step of the podium in the last four DTM races that he has actually finished. In muggy and dry conditions, the race tyre supplied by exclusive DTM partner Hankook offered all the drivers optimal support, allowing spectators to enjoy exciting battles for position and spectacular overtaking manoeuvres right down to the last lap.
On Saturday, Philipp Eng won the first foreign race of the 2019 DTM season in Zolder. After 39 laps, the Austrian BMW driver was first to cross the finishing line. He was 8.645 seconds ahead of his closest challenger and celebrated his first win in what is probably the most popular international touring car series. The spectators at the 4.003-kilometre circuit in Belgium enjoyed a thrilling third race of the DTM season, which saw the field thrown into disorder by a safety car phase. The Ventus Race tyre from exclusive DTM tyre partner Hankook delivered a convincing performance on the smooth asphalt in Zolder, maintaining the usual level of grip as track temperatures reached 36 degrees. Mounting the high and sometimes porous kerbs also had no effect on the tyre construction and did not impact the strong performance of the Ventus Race.
