- 2008 campaign will use Brabus Smart in Police car design with 18 inch tyres
- 2nd campaign car following the motto “Extreme but legal” in 19 inch
Neu-Isenburg/ Essen, December 4th, 2007. Hankook Tire, one of the fastest growing tyre manufacturers worldwide, will continue to support the ‘Tune it! Safe!’-campaign of German automobile tuners association VDAT (Verband Deutscher Automobil Tuner e.v.) for the 3rd consecutive year as the exclusive premium partner. At the Essen Motor Show 2007, Hankook Tire Executive Vice-President and COO for Europe Seung-Do Jin together with professor Bodo Buschmann, President of Brabus and chairman of the VDAT-committee, signed the contract extension for 2008. The campaign promotes the safe tuning of automobiles and is supported by the German government as well as economic institutions, professional organizations and authorities. Germany ’s minister of Transport Mr. Wolfgang Tiefensee represents the patron of ‘Tune it! Safe!’. In addition to that, the support provided by Hankook Tire allows for a strong public presence of all campaign activities, like the campaign-typical tuned special police-car, and its various outlets for disseminating information. “The ‘Tune it! Safe!’-campaign is very important for us. With the continuation of our engagement we want to further support the valuable activities for more road safety also in the tuning-segment”, comments Seung-Do Jin on the reasons for supporting the campaign.
Police-car as ambassador of the Campaign
The main ambassador and optical highlight of “Tune it! Safe!” is always a legally tuned automobile in actual German police car design. In previous years a Techart-Porsche 911 and a Mercedes CLS-based “Brabus Rocket” made their way through the tuning scene. This year, respecting also environmental tasks of serious tuning, a Brabus Smart has been selected as one of the most environmental friendly cars from point of fuel consumption and CO2-emissions. Of course, beside other tuning measures this small city coupe has been equipped with Hankook ultra high performance flagship- tyres of type ‘Ventus S1 evo’ in ? for this car - extra wide but nevertheless legal size 205/40 ZR 18 XL 86 Y at the front and 225/35 ZR 18 XL 87 Y in the back.
Tuning means enthusiasm and fun
Even today there are still products of low quality in the market ? some of them represent illegal and putatively cheap plagiarisms. To confront these safety risks effectively, the most important companies, associations and authorities have come together to launch the Tune it! Safe!-campaign, which is entering its third year at the Essen Motor Show. “By supporting the campaign Hankook Tire wants to help make tuning safer,” Mr. Jin continues. “For that reason we offer ultra high performance products specially developed for the tuning market, which are of very high quality and fairly priced, so that tuning fans with a limited budget do not have to turn to low quality products.”
Abt Seat Leon showcar ? “extreme, but legal”
As a 2nd part of the 2008 ‘Tune it! Safe’-campaign another car will cruise through the international tuning-scene from beginning of next year. As part of a special training project a Seat Leon from Abt Sportsline has been developed by young company-trainees, following the motto “extreme, but legal”. Despite its massive changes and add-ons this car also fulfils all legal requirements. The tyres are again provided by Tune it! Safe!-premium-partner Hankook Tire. As for the Smart police car, here too, its luxury UHP-tyre ‘Ventus S1 evo’ is used, but in attractive size of 225/35 ZR 19 XL 88 Y.
